Script, notes and length
Under More options on the New video page you can give Garren a title, a target length, your script and notes for the editor. All of them are optional.
Title
Leave it empty and the video is named after the first file. You can type any title you like.
Length
Auto lets Garren decide how long the finished video is, based on your script or your footage. To aim for a length, pick one of the presets or enter it under Or exactly:
| Frame | Presets | Exact length |
|---|---|---|
| 16:9 | 8, 10, 12 or 15 minutes | 1 to 120 minutes |
| 9:16 and 4:5 | 30, 45, 60 or 90 seconds | 5 to 600 seconds |
The finished length can't be longer than the footage you upload. On your free first video, the length goes up to 3 minutes.
Script
Paste or type your script, or choose Import a file (.txt, .md or .docx). With a script, Garren keeps one complete take of every line in script order and leaves out what isn't in it. Names, brands and websites are written the way your script writes them, in the captions, graphics and copy.
Without a script, Garren works from what you say: it keeps the best takes and cuts filler words, long pauses and double takes.
A script also makes the credit estimate more precise, because Garren can tell from it how long the finished video will be.
Notes for the editor
Write anything Garren should know, in plain words. The notes can ask for anything the chat can change later. For example:
- names to spell right ("Garren, not Garen")
- the order of your files
- a part to leave out ("skip the story about my dog")
- the captions smaller, or no music in the intro
- colour correction if your footage looks too dark or flat
Your notes open the video's chat, with Garren's answer saying what it set up from them.
Several videos from one recording
When you make several videos from one recording, your script also tells Garren where each video starts and ends. See Several videos from one recording.
