Getting started

What do I need to record?

Just you, talking to the camera, in one take or many. Upload the files straight from your camera or phone, 4K included. A script helps, but it's optional. See Upload your footage.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. Your first video is free: up to 3 minutes of finished video in a ready-made style. No card needed. See Your free first video.

How long does an edit take?

Most videos are ready in a few minutes. You can close the tab; Garren emails you when yours is done. See Progress and time left.

Which formats can Garren make?

16:9 for YouTube and VSLs, 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, and 4:5 for feed posts. See Frames.

Does it work in my language?

Yes. Garren edits in the language you speak, cuts that language's filler words and writes the captions in its own script, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Arabic. See Languages.

The edit

Can I change the edit?

Yes. Type what you want, like "make the captions smaller" or "cut the part about my dog", and Garren makes a new version. Each video includes 5 changes in chat. See Change the edit in chat.

Can Garren copy a style I like?

Yes. Show it up to three videos you like and it learns their cuts, captions, graphics and colours. Or start with one of the ready-made styles and add your brand colour. See Custom styles from your videos.

Can I use my own b-roll and music?

Yes. Upload clips to a style's b-roll library or to a single video, and upload your own tracks to a style. See Music, sound effects and b-roll.

Can I finish the edit in Premiere Pro?

On Pro, yes. Download the editing project for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or After Effects. See Editing project files.

Can I make several videos from one recording?

On Creator and Pro, yes. Record several ads or shorts in one sitting and Garren turns them into separate videos. See Several videos from one recording.

Credits and plans

What is a credit?

1 credit is 1 minute of finished video, in any frame. A Short uses 1 credit, an 8-minute YouTube video 8. See How credits work.

Do unused credits carry over?

Plan credits renew every 30 days and don't carry over. Credits from a credit pack stay valid for 12 months. See Credit packs.

What if I run out of credits?

Add a credit pack, move to a bigger plan, or wait until your credits renew. The app tells you before you start anything your balance doesn't cover.

Does it work for teams and agencies?

Yes. Your editors start from a finished edit instead of raw footage, every client keeps their own style, and on Creator and Pro one recording can become several videos.

How do I cancel?

In Settings › Plan & billing, choose Cancel plan. Your plan keeps running until the end of the period you paid for. See Change or cancel your plan.

Your videos

Who owns the finished video?

You do. Publish it wherever you like.

Can I use the music on a monetised channel or in ads?

Yes. The music and sound effects Garren adds are licensed for use in your videos, including on monetised channels and in paid ads, also after your subscription ends.

Is my footage used to train AI?

No. Garren uses your footage only to make your videos.

How long are my videos kept?

Finished videos stay as long as you're on a plan. Footage is kept for 14 to 90 days after your last change, depending on your plan, and 3 days on the free video. See How long files are kept.
