Frames: 16:9, 9:16 and 4:5
Every video is made in one of three frames. You pick it first on the New video page, and Garren paces and lays out the edit for it.
The three frames
| Frame | In the app | For | Comes with |
|---|---|---|---|
| 16:9 landscape | YouTube / VSL | YouTube videos and video sales letters | Long-form pacing, chapters and the YouTube package |
| 9:16 vertical | Reels, TikTok, Shorts | Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts | Hook first, fast cuts and post copy |
| 4:5 portrait | Feed post | Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn feed | Short-form pacing and post copy |
What changes with the frame
Pacing. A 16:9 video keeps a long-form rhythm with chapters. On 9:16 and 4:5 Garren puts a hook first, cuts tighter and shows something new every few seconds.
Framing. On vertical and feed frames, each shot is cropped around your face so you stay in the picture. A vertical recording in a 16:9 video is shown whole over a blurred copy of itself.
Captions and graphics. Captions are bigger on 9:16 and 4:5 and sit above the area where the platform puts its own buttons and text. Graphics have their own layouts for each frame.
Copy. A 16:9 video gets the YouTube package: three titles, a description, tags, chapters and thumbnails. A 9:16 or 4:5 video gets post copy: a title, a caption and hashtags.
The same video in another frame
On Creator and Pro you can have a finished video in the other frames too, either when you start the edit (More options › Also export in) or later from the review room's Export menu. See The same video in other frames.
